About Heriz Karajeh Rugs
Heriz Karajeh rugs come from a cluster of villages in northwest Persia near the Heriz region, with Karajeh (also spelled Karaja or Gharajeh) known for its signature triple medallion design. Unlike the more sprawling patterns of typical Heriz rugs, Karajeh pieces are often narrower and feature a more modular layout, perfect for runners. These rugs are prized for their hard-wearing wool, earthy palette, and expressive tribal drawing. Each rug reflects the individuality of its weaver while maintaining a recognizable village identity.
